Job Description
Applications Engineer-Nuclear (2 positions)
Requires engineering mechanical products used by Nuclear power industry, prefer fluid flow products.
Requires BSME + pumps,valves,regulators and piping product design (Solid Works) analysis (FEA CFD) plus desire to interact directly with the customer.
Performs multiple nuclear application assignments of moderate to complex scope with minimal guidance from supervisor, engineers, or detailed procedures. Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications per nuclear specifications. Capable of reviewing complex code specifications and matching appropriate products to the applications noting any exceptions. May train other engineers and technicians within area of engineering expertise. Requires nuclear code and product knowledge and the ability to understand end customer system function through extensive communication with distributors and end customers. Coordinates activities with Service groups, Sourcing, Marketing, Operations, and external suppliers to issue quotations and process orders.
Code Knowledge: ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Sections II, III, V, IX
ASME B 31.1 Power Piping
ASME B 16.34 Valves
QME-1 Qualification of Active Mechanical Equipment
IEEE-344 Recommended Practice for Seismic Qualification
Experience: 5+ years of experience or developmental experience in a professional position. Prefer at least one year in a manufacturing or assembly support role. Hands-on experience with a variety of fluid system components and experience with nuclear code compliance is preferred. Nuclear training, such as US Navy Nuclear, a plus.
