 TITLE:                      Breakdown / Repair Technician
AREA:                       Greater Kansas City
Our client, a multinational company that develops, manufactures and distributes products for commercial vehicles, has commissioned Sterling St. James, LLC to source, screen and qualify candidates for a breakdown/repair technician position in their Kansas City Manufacturing location.
This is a fast paced position. You will be working in an environment that is in the early evolutionary cycle of driverless vehicles.  It doesn’t get any more exciting than this. Ground floor – leading edge!

Serves as a primary resource to plant for troubleshooting equipment, quality and machine productivity problems and any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor or Manager. Maintain and troubleshoot machinery as needed to bring equipment back on line as soon as possible. Lead repair work during assigned shift.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Ability and willingness to perform all troubleshooting, set-up and Preventive Maintenance on all machines in plant and to implement appropriate solutions.
  • Demonstrates ability to trace and solve electrical problems by going online with PLC robo-box, monitoring machine data and other signals, or tracing voltages / continuity.
  • Demonstrates understanding of electrical schematics and PLC ladder logic.
  • Basic excel and word experience.
  • PM software experience or aptitude.
Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge:
  • Pursuing or completing an Associate Degree in Machining Technology or a Certificate Program in Industrial Maintenance or Industrial Electrical Technology or equivalent.
  • Minimum rate of 6 credit hours per calendar year until complete.
  • Must be willing to attend training related to machining and maintenance operations.
  • Will be Authorized Person for Lock Out/Tag Out on all equipment and will ensure the safety of all other employees.
  • Must pursue, complete and demonstrate understanding by using company standards and these specific Lean manufacturing modules:
  • Total Productive Maintenance
  • Basic Problem Solving and Error Proofing
  • Root Cause analysis and other TQM analysis tools
  • SMED
  • Must be dependable, trustworthy and have good attendance habits. 
  • Must work well with others and demonstrate respect for self and others.
  • Must be flexible to various work schedules, including other shifts, weekends and holiday work, as required.
  • Physical demands ability to walk, kneel, climb a ladder, squat and carry weight up to 50lbs.
