Excellent opportunity for a talented Production Manager to plan daily production activities, direct work, champion continuous improvement efforts, and lead a team and develop team members and production supervisors for a large manufacturing facility of a global company. Reporting to the GM, this person will lead a team of 90-100 non-union associates and six direct reports.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the application of manufacturing standards to current and future projects. Lead regular manufacturing and engineering reviews of operations to ensure consistent application and execution of organization standards
  • Evaluate product design for deviations to safety, quality or efficiency targets and drive issue resolution. Promptly elevate issues where solid countermeasures are not achievable through standard practices.
  • Plan and schedule production activities and supervise the processes through completion.
  • Establish, monitor and continually improve safety, production efficiency and quality standards; and cost controls and budget related to production.
  • Continually monitor and analyze data regarding types, quantities, specifications and delivery dates of customer promise dates. Report key performance indicators.
  • Drive and perform operational analysis of business processes. 
  • Identify key elements of process improvement and partner with process owners to deliver sustainable and repeatable change.
  • Monitor and maintain metrics and related reports as applies to departments. Actively participate in continuous improvement teams across all company locations.
  • Provide developmental guidance to team members, improve production supervisor performance and efficacy, and clarify plans, goals and objectives through team meetings.
  • Maintain focus on IPO’s.
  • Identify strengths and opportunities for improvement through informal discussions and formal review of job descriptions, annual recruitment and training plans.
  • Interpret applicable laws regarding employee issues, Environmental, Health and Safety and business practices. Advise/counsel/train subordinates and other employees on legal and compliance issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
 
 
Requirements:
  • 4-year degree, preferably in Business, Engineering or Finance.
  • 6+ years of experience, including production leadership and management in a manufacturing environment.
  • In depth understanding of manufacturing operations and methods associated with the repetitive manufacturing of small, high volume, close-tolerance formed metal parts. Familiarity with steel/metals forming, pressing, stamping, cutting, machining and milling, heat treating, and paint strongly preferred.
  • Experience with the concepts and practical application of Just-In-Time manufacturing, Statistical Process Control, Employee Involvement, Q.I. Story Problem Solving Methodology and Daily Management. 
  • Broad range of knowledge of related environmental, health, safety, labor and business law.
  • Proven effectiveness in organization management that includes: assuming responsibility, communication, resolving conflicts, decisiveness, commitment to company objectives, and establishing a motivational work environment. 
  • High activity level and strong sense of urgency to achieve performance targets.
  • Demonstrated skills in continuous learning, flexibility, customer focus, quality commitment and maintaining good relationships.
