Role you will play: 
  • The Director of Global Supply Chain will be responsible for the management of all procurement functions both strategic and tactical for commodity areas of responsibility (Supplier Quality, Delivery, Cost, Inventory, Lead-Time and Innovation) for specified products, geographies or projects. 
  • Analyzes changes or new issues in material and supply to improve quality and delivery while reducing costs and inventory. 
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan, resource and accomplish goals and objectives. 
  • Recruits, develops, Top-grades and manages professional purchasing resources appropriate for the culture, goals and objectives. 
  • Establishes global procurement strategies, tactics, actions and policies for assigned spend, parts, products, geographies and commodities; collaborates to ensure incorporation and business unit participation.
  • Champion of the Strategic Sourcing processes at all levels for the organization; ensures consistent application of processes; drives strategic thinking within the supply chain organization.
  • Oversees all activities related to the management of assigned spend, from intent to purchase through delivery of commodity/service. 
  • Possess global experience to support multi-region sourcing decisions and supply chain optimization.
  • Recruits, retains, promotes and champions world class talent acquisition and development across – globally.
  • Recruits, maintains and manages world-class suppliers with focus on total systems cost improvements while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct.
  • Plans, organizes, directs, controls and communicates all strategic sourcing activities related to assigned spend, products, geographies and/or project specific requirements.
  • Drives participation on Global Supply Chain advisory team assuring coordination and communication of agreed upon activities.
  • Proactively and routinely drives monthly standardized and approved spend analysis activities identifying strategic sourcing opportunities within assigned commodities and throughout the SC environment where applicable.
  • Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, terms/ conditions, and acceptability of items to specifications.
  • Develops or improves a system to evaluate vendor quotations that utilizes appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, delivery, cost, and service across multiple global locations.
  • Negotiates or supervises the negotiation of complex requests for products, equipment, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future (industry trends in pricing and availability that will impact the business) material availability and prepare market analysis reports.
  • Proactively establishes and implements countermeasures to negative market trends and missed objective performance.
  • Jointly develops and monitors adherence to agreed upon policies and procedures.
  • Supports development and implementation of enabling technologies.
  • Drives innovation and a focus on continuous improvement within the supply chain organization
  • Designs, implements, manages, and monitors procurement reporting systems to ensure company requirements are attained.
  • Responsible for timely reporting to agreed upon KPI’s and presenting Strategic Sourcing plans, activities, and outcomes.
  • Supports development and implementation of new products and product innovations (VAVE, DFMA and product enhancements).
  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or other similar degree that lends itself well to the supply chain environment within industrial manufacturing
  • MBA or other Master’s degree a plus
  • CPM or CPIM certification desired
  • 5 years of experience in a purchasing/procurement role required, at least 2 years of which must have been in a manufacturing environment
  • Project Management experience required
  • Supplier negotiation experience required
  • Experience with reading engineering drawings / blueprints
  • Previous supervisory or management experience within manufacturing environment, leading cross-functional teams
  • Must be willing and able to travel for the position as needed
  • Commodity and market expert, high level of technically competency
  • Prior experience within steel-related manufacturing industries or power transmission industry highly preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of lean principles and demand flow techniques; must be a driver and champion of continuous improvement
